Visiting Mannheim...

Last week I had my first face to face meeting with my team all together in Mannheim, Germany. What a great week! Cindy from Beijing, Kelly from Singapore, Pawandeep from India, and Georgina from South Africa joined the team from Moline - each brought something special from their country to tell the group about their culture. Not only did we get a lot of work accomplished and planning for the future, we also had a chance to visit a winery and have dinner together. Here are a couple pictures from the week:

A weekend in Berlin...

On my way from Brazil to Mannheim for work, I spent a weekend in Berlin. What a great city! I spent Saturday on a bike tour of the city. Great way to travel around the city and see the sights. Also I was fortunate enough to meet some fun people on the tour. Ashli and Colton are fellow Americans traveling Europe for the first time. Anne from Canada was traveling as well. So the bike tour included a stop at a beer garden - this made the second half of the tour even more exciting...then we decided to listen to Colton's great idea and make our own pub crawl. So the bike tour starting at 11am ended with us at Checkpoint Charlie late in the evening...
I saw the Berlin Wall - amazing to think about all the history! We biked to Hilter's bunker - which is really a parking lot now. We visited the memorial for the Jews near the American Embassy, which is now at the original site in East Berlin. Sunday we traveled to the concentration camp near Berlin...words can't describe the feeling touring this. Reminds all of us to appreciate our lives!

Here are some pictures from the great city of Berlin:

I head back to Singapore tomorrow...for the first ever Asia Beerfest! Perfect :)

A quick team meeting in Brazil...

So I started by journey in Singapore around 10pm SIN time on Saturday and arrived in Porte Alegre on Sunday at 10pm Brazil time...oh it was a journey! Three continents and three flights. Thankfully Delta lounges are available on my layovers to grab something to eat and some quiet rest.
It was my team meeting with the Global OF team - we get together 4 times a year face to face. Thanks Santi for hosting. Santi has the same job as I but in Region 3 - South America.
Unfortunately due to the volcano in Chile, we had to leave a little early but still had a great time seeing the team! Here is a picture of the team at a traditional Brazilan steakhouse:

We got a ride on the company plane to get back to Sao Paulo for our flights out of Brazil...a little bumpy with the weather and we all know I don't do well with rough motion! haha

After working in the Sao Paulo airport for many hours (which is not a great airport, but after you can go through customs, I was able to use the Delta lounge), I headed to Frankfurt. I will be in Germany for a week - having my first face to face meeting with my team from Region 1. Looking forward to the time with my team all together. It should be a great week!

Visiting Ningbo John Deere factory

This week I got to visit Beijing and Ningbo in China. I always enjoy my visits to China! We had a Chinese vegetarian lunch - crazy I know but my Indian colleague needed vegetarian. And it was good! Yummy in fact!

Also I had my first Silk market experience - I got myself some nice Jimmy Choo bags haha thanks to Renee's ( a fellow American) awesome negotiation skills! The market sells everything and I mean everything - I will return again soon for pearls!
Finally I made my first domestic Chinese flight to Ningbo- what an experience! The airport is huge for domestic flights. The Hatian Airlines serves full meals making the ride more comfortable... Thankfully Cindy ( who manages my team in China) translates for me! She keeps asking me when I will start my Mandarin language classes - soon! I just signed up for the Rosseta Stone online class. I hope I learn something!
On arriving to Ningbo we stopped to take pictures along the river before heading to the John Deere factory. It was a great day touring the factory and meeting more John Deere employees proud to make our tractors!

Hopefully next trip to China I can get to the Great Wall!

Good times

My first visit to Bali was as amazing as I thought it would be! Monica, Matt, and I arrived at the Westin Dusa Nua to a warm welcome and beautiful setting!

The resort was amazing- beach, pool, swim up bar, and waterside!!!!

We also got to visit a temple and attend an evening dance. The Balinese have such a rich culture full of rituals and beauty. The temple was on top of a cliff and perfect to visit at sunset.

Thanks Monica and Matt for a great trip to Bali - can't wait to go back!
