A weekend in Dubai

Dubai is wonderful! It has the tallest, biggest, best of everything in the world. I visited the Perisan Gulf for the first time and saw the tallest hotel in the world - Bar Al Arab. I visited the Palms which is the largest manmade island in the world. UAE sells manmade islands to the world starting around $10M!!! Then I traveled to the Mall of the Emirates to ski at Ski Dubai. I have never skied indoors before. So fun! My niece and nephews would have loved it. Finally, I finished the day at the Dubai mall with the tallest building in the world - Al Murooj. The mall also has an impressive water fountain show. I couldn't believe how Dubai turned the desert into a beautiful, green country. They consume the most water in the world each day, but lucky they use sea water and remove the salt. Dubai has wonderful food. People were from all over the world. Here are a couple pictures:

Visiting a John Deere Dealer in India

Today I visited the first John Deere dealer in India. It was a great experience! I received the official welcoming ceremony where they treat their guests like gods. Perfect!

Weekend in Singapore...

So spending a weekend in Singapore has been wonderful but busy! I enjoyed the pool at the hotel and did some walking through the city to explore. I visited Orchard Road which is Singapore's verison of 5th Avenue - shopping malls like I have never seen before! I learned they have Redbox type movie rental here, great supermarkets, and easy subways/bus system. I also am still struggling with jet lag, so I had to rest often and hope I am able to find ways to beat it soon!
The most exciting thing I did this weekend was decide on my apartment! Tomorrow the paperwork will start on the Sail at the Marina Bay in the city center! If all goes well with the negotiations, I will have a view from every room of the Bay and the heart of the city. It might be a little bit of a commute to work (around 30 minutes by bus) but I wanted to be in the city center where all the activity is. It will be a small 2 bedroom (but still room for visitors) and 2 bathrooms on the 32nd floor! The complex also has an amazing pool, a mall with supermarket, resturants, and access to the subway in the basement. I feel very lucky to get into this complex where many expats live.
Here are a couple pictures of the apartment with the view as well as the link to the website:

Beijing

I spent this past week in China. Beijing was wonderful! The people were friendly and the food was yummy. The week went by fast as I had full work days. I met my new team in the Deere Beijing office. We had great meetings and had fun on Friday going to a Chinese lunch!
Though I didn't get time to sightsee, here are some pictures from Tiananmen Square with Forbidden City behind me as well as some pictures of my meals in China.

Send off with great friends

Last night I had a wonderful time with great friends at one of our usual hang outs. It was so great to see everyone one more time and say good bye to some of the most wonderful people. I will miss NC and all my friends but looking forward to my new adventures in Singapore! Thank you again to my friends for making this transition as smooth as possible!
